Trauma Informed, Recovery Oriented Opioid Use Disorder Treatment

by Jim Clarkson and David Hayden

Tuesday, February 23, 2016

2 p.m. - 3 p.m. EDT

Effectively addressing the opioid epidemic in the United States calls for more than just preventing withdrawal—even more so it’s about promoting recovery. This seminar will describe the SelfRefind Model for treating Opioid Use Disorders in an integrated, holistic way by providing Trauma Informed, Recovery Oriented care which comports to the current federal and ASAM guidelines for model MAT treatment by blending behavioral health clinical and recovery oriented approaches with pharmacological interventions. Trauma informed care can and should be a cornerstone of MAT and this seminar will provide an introduction on how to develop effective multi-disciplinary treatment and recovery teams based on trauma informed and recovery oriented principles. As a clinic based, physician led intervention, the model provides a more cost effective “apples to apples” comparison for parity requirements than many other SUD treatment modalities and has proven attractive to third party payers.
